Cafe Zambezi Tucked away on a busy street between stores is the hidden eating place called Cafe Zambezi. The menu is vast and varied. A choice between African and Western cuisine. We had the crocodile skewers. Unique and tasty. And the regular fare of chicken and stews and fish. The waiting staff are cheerful and attentive. The traditional foods were excellent. Generous servings too.

Waited 45 mins for a very simple meal at lunchtime. Hardly any people there, so not busy. Ordered crocodile bites but they were chicken. Maybe they should have just told us they didn't have any n we would have ordered something else. Poor service and poor food.

Restaurant is beautiful and our experience started off nice, but it got worse over time. 45 minute wait for the food. Largest number of flies that I have seen in any restaurant. In the picture, I count 12. I ordered the Nyama Choma cooked medium. It came beyond well done. After asking for a shaper knife, I couldn't only get through half of it.

What follows is a list of things we were able to achieve while waiting for a fourth wine glass: - 8 rounds of the macarena (with sunglasses) - Two phds - Cured the common cold - Got married - Learned portuguese - Came up with a new recipe for bovril - Read and re-enacted the very hungry caterpillar - Entrapped, killed and skinned a large crocodile while sustaining heavy injuries, then, after several weeks’ convalescence (with the crocodile meat in the freezer), cooked it for everyone to much critical acclaim - Attempted (but failed) the 50 dabs challenge - Got a divorce - Pitched the new bovril recipe to their executive board, being politely turned down but with useful constructive criticism - Drank 3 bottles of wine from the bottle - Remarried In all seriousness, we had a lovely time - thank you very much!

Came to grab a late lunch/early dinner and got ourselves the meat platter for two! It was HUGE! Jollof rice was perfectly spiced, chips were crunchy and pillowey in the inside, goat was soooo tender, chicken had the perfect charcoal taste, steak was juicy, the crocodile bites (don’t be overwhelmed my fellow westerners, it taste exactly like beef!) was cooked amazingly in a sweet and spicy sauce. I could not complain about anything, great value for money!
